Everything was DELICIOUS! I can see why this place had so many amazing reviews. We ordered a ton of food and had plenty left over. Their Stuffed Jalapeños were so good, the Queso Con Chorizo was fire! My Husbands Steak, Chicken & Shrimp Fajitas were so flavorful, and my Polo Chuy was fire. Would order again in a heartbeat!

A love letter to my favorite Mexican restaurant:
There's nothing I look forward to more (especially on rough day) than a to-go order of El Metate. It's that perfect in-between of American Mexican and autentico, you can choose as you please. This ain't no Chuy's, no no no no. This is supreme. This is that neighborhood joint that serves delicious food and margaritas for a good price type beat.
I go for the fajitas or the huge California burrito. The protein and veggies are consistently cooked great. I have to stop myself from eating everything in one sitting because even the leftovers are amazing. I love you El Metate, never change.

The flavor of the Chimichangas were good but there was not enough meat in each tortilla. Every bite was mostly just bread. I hated that. The cheese sauce was thin and water, not a good queso. Very bland. Disappointed in the overall dish, considering the price.👎

We've ordered here before and the food was pretty good but this time the food was bland (we ordered chicken chimichanga and enchiladas both times). We also ordered a large cheese dip for $14 that was way smaller than it should be for that price and the container wasn't even completely full.
